My relationship with learning and development was shaped early on in my career. Guided by wonderful mentors to “apply the mind,” I was taught to think beyond linear approaches. This has defined my journey as both a ‘student of life’ and a communication professional. I currently find myself in the shoes of an independent consultant and solopreneur. My specialisation is corporate communication, change communication, public relations, stakeholder management, leadership communication, internal communication, and emerging issues analysis. Like many other communication professionals, I have worked across both public and private sectors, including NGOs, public–private provincial government projects, banking and financial services, engineering, and education. In these roles, I have taken on responsibilities that demand analytical depth and problem-solving at both specialist and leadership levels. I hold a master’s degree in Public Relations Management, with my dissertation (a qualitative research study) exploring the relationship between public relations consultants and their clients. As a Certified Strategic Communication Management Professional with the Global Communication Certification Council, I’m committed to upholding global standards of excellence and ethics in communication. I value excellence, and as a past award recipient, I also serve as an evaluator on the IABC Africa Blue Ribbon Panel for Silver Quill Award entries, as well as for the IABC Gold Quill Awards.
