Eskom generates approximately 95% of the electricity used in South Africa and approximately 45% of the electricity used in Africa. Eskom generates, transmits and distributes electricity to industrial, mining, commercial, agricultural and residential customers and redistributors. Additional power stations and major power lines are being built to meet rising electricity demand in South Africa. Eskom will continue to focus on improving and strengthening its core business of electricity generation, transmission, trading and distribution.

Eskom buys electricity from and sells electricity to the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The future involvement in African markets outside South Africa (that is the SADC countries connected to the South African grid and the rest of Africa) is limited to those projects that have a direct impact on ensuring security of supply for South Africa.

Very few organizations can make the confident claim that they are effectively communicating with members of their staff. Bulk email is widely used by organizations simply because it is readily available … however seldom effective, and the message seldom reaches the intended audience.

CLA provides alternative innovative modules in a customizable toolkit. All messages published through any of the CLA modules are delivered to the intended audience via a priority channel ensuring that the message is read and remembered.

While it is crucial to be able to effectively push information to staff in the form of newsletters, corporate announcements, product catalogues or marketing material, gathering feedback from staff is just as vital and often one of the most challenging tasks of the corporate communications team. Running questionnaires, surveys, a product knowledge quiz, competitions and other general feedback such as event attendance and catering is typically both time-consuming and often frustrating and unsuccessful. CLA has a comprehensive, built-in survey and reporting module that boasts a massive 90%+ response rate within 2-3 working days – a response rate which is unparalleled by any other feedback tool on the market.

Russell and Associates Investor Relations was established in May 1999 by Charmane Russell. Having spent more than a decade in a corporate communications environment, Charmane was well-positioned to establish an agency providing superior service, with a personalised touch. Over the years, Charmane has been joined by former colleagues and associates, also drawn from the corporate sector and has combined an expert team with enviable experience and expertise, with young, energetic and highly-competent communications professionals.

In early 2017, Russell and Associates entered into an agreement with senior colleague and head of our Digital Media division, Kisten Stern, through which Kisten and a newly-formed women’s empowerment trust would acquire a 26% interest in the business. The final details of this transaction are currently being concluded.

In recognition of this change, Russell and Associates Investor Relations became R&A Strategic Communications with effect from 1 May 2017. The three directors and shareholders of the company are Charmane Russell, Peter Russell and Kisten Stern.
