DEFINITION OF A STUDENT MEMBER
IABC defines student members as "full-time students of colleges, universities and other educational institutions”
This membership shall also be available to part-time students working toward a degree, who are not presently engaged in the organizational communication profession in a paid capacity."
Applications for student membership must be received at least 60 days prior to graduation date.
PROOF OF STUDENT STATUS REQUIERED
To apply for student membership, students must submit when joining or renewing:
1. A student ID (fax or photocopy)
AND
2. One of the following:
Copy/Fax of a proof of regitration of payment with name of the institution, name of the student, and a date including the year
Copy/Fax of a receipt for tuition payment with name of the institution, name of the student, and a date including the year.
STUDENT DUES
Students can join IABC for a joining rate of $60 US Dollars (with estimated exchange rate of R7.50) this is approximately R450 per annum depending on current exchange rate, plus chapter and regional dues where applicable. Chapter dues should be included with the student international dues mailed to IABC world headquarters.
Some professional and university chapters currently charge students chapter dues in addition to the international amount. When calculating your dues, please refer to the application form where additional sums are listed.
Upon graduation, IABC student members qualify for one-half off the international membership dues and exemption from the application fee if they join IABC as a practitioner member within one year of their graduation date. Full chapter and regional dues still apply.
HOW TO JOIN
Print out and fill in the online 
application form .
Mail it to the IABC Membership Department along with two of the required documents proving student status, your expected year of graduation and the appropriate dues payment.

Once received, your membership application will take up to five business days to process. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail providing you with your membership information and access to the international website.
